Pivot is:
Rob Helmsorig - Guitar/Vocals/Lyrics
Mike Ryans - Guitar
Fabian Freire - Bass
Jordan Keith - Drummer

In it's recent years, Pivot has had its work cut out for them
keeping a handle on their sanity. Shortly after forming in early
1998, the South Florida quartet released its debut full-length
CD (Rock, Scissor, Papercuts) on 'Canes Records; a student-run
label affiliated with the University of Miami. Several shows
and radio air play followed.
Then, in early 2000, their original bass player left the
band to pursue a position in the newly bred Dashboard Confessional.
His best friend took over bass responsibilities for the next
year, but also left to move cross-country, followed by their
guitar player who later called it quits to continue his career
in the graphic arts.
After numerous months and countless auditions later, the
2 remaining members, Rob Helmsorig (guitarist/singer/songwriter)
and Jordan Keith (drummer - formally played with members of
L.U.N.G.S and Darwin's Waiting Room) found Fabian Freire (bassist)
from the recently defunct band Foolproof. As the 3 rehearsed,
they were introduced to Mike Ryan (guitarist) who had just
moved from Connecticut. Mike made a brief cameo appearance
in Hatebreed for approximately 2 months back in 1997.
Finally Pivot was off of their hiatus and onto making music.
They varied their style a bit (since there were 2 new members)
and wrote 6 songs together, which they started to record in
late 2001. Unfortunately, their producer had a flood in his
house, rearranging his schedule and causing their recording
to be postponed.
Now, almost a year later, Pivot is finally ready to release
their 6 song EP "Where the Debris Meets the Sea"
on the Hollywood, FL based independent label Purple Skunk
Records. Their kinetic sound is mainly influenced from bands
like Foo Fighters to Jimmy Eat World and Samiam, even though
they themselves have musical influences that reach as far
back as the Descendents, Led Zeppelin, and the Beatles.
